Employee No Longer Allowed To Bring Ferret To Work
by Patrick Kirk Gillock
Chesterville, WA - John Carter, Customer Service Rep at the pet friendly Epluribiz, was informed yesterday that his ferret, Dokken, was no longer welcome during business hours. "This is an outrage!" said John. "Everyone else can bring their pets, but because I prefer the nervous and unpredictable behaviors of a ferret, I'm being penalized?"
Susan Clark, the Office Manager at Epluribiz, replied, "We have found employees are happier and more productive when they have their dog or cat with them. Its a very comfortable work environment." She went on to say, "Unfortunately for John, we also found nobody could be happy or productive while there was a wild ferret running around. It's quite frightening.
The cats did not handle it well."
Some of the incidents reported to Management involved Dokken curled up in coffee pots, scaring women in the restrooms, running up employee's legs, and "obsessive marking of territory."
John, still frustrated from the news said, "Dokken loved going to work with me. We would go home and he would be exhausted from running around all day. Of course, he still wouldn't rest,
sleep,
or even slow down. But you could tell he was tired."
