If we could harness the power of peer-pressure, from this one marriage proposal, we could cure the energy crisis.

Public Wedding Proposals Make For Bad Marriages
by
Patrick Kirk Gillock

Chesterville , WA - When Ken proposed to Susie, via a 50 foot billboard off the I-5 freeway, they were with numerous friends who had gathered to see her response. The pressure must have been too much, she said "Yes!" It was just another example of a peer-pressured marriage which will be repeated hundreds of times each weekend around this insecure country.

Statistics say 50% of all marriage proposals are public. (Or maybe not. I make alot of this stuff up.) Statistics also say 50% of all marriages end in divorce. Coincidence? No. It's just another sign of the destructive power of peer-pressure. Don't let your marriage start off on the wrong foot, propose in the privacy of your own home ...secluded park, beach, or abandoned housing project. That way you'll always know you got a truthful response and your marriage wasn't one big act because she didn't want to embarrass you both in front of the restaurant patrons.*

Ladies, here are some signs you're about to be proposed to in a public place:
- He makes unusual dinner plans or is unusually nice
- He invites you to something you normally don't get invited to
- He changes the subject when marriage comes up
- He avoids you for one week prior to the proposal
- He pretends to not be interested in you just for sex

Unfortunately, the same signs might mean you're about to be dumped.

* I am actually a VERY romantic person and played the cynic in this article. If you're planning a public wedding proposal, have fun, don't be too tacky, and go for it!
